IPL 2020

IPL postponed till 14 April due to COVID-19
The threat of cancellation on the current session
Players will not get money when tournament is canceled
Franchisees will not pay players salary if the game is not done
In such a situation, domestic players are seen falling in Problem

No play, no salary. This could happen to the players who signed the IPL this year as it has been postponed. It is unlikely to be held until the BCCI prepares its alternate window at the end of the year. A senior IPL franchise official said, "The IPL payment method is such that 15% of the money is paid a week before the tournament starts. 65% is awarded during the tournament. The remaining 20% is given within the stipulated time after the completion of the tournament. The BCCI has special guidelines. Certainly nothing has been given to any player yet. '

Ashok Malhotra, president of the BCCI Players Association (Cricketers' Association of India), admitted that the economic impact of not having a season of the IPL would be huge. They feel that even if domestic players suffer losses due to the ongoing lockdown to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, even the domestic players will have to bear the brunt.

Right now the BCCI is looking for an alternative window as the chance of getting IPL in May is very low, but nothing has been decided yet. The country currently has a 21-day lockdown that will end on April 14 while the IPL has been postponed until April 15. The Corona virus epidemic has killed more than 37,000 people worldwide so far. This has led to considerable economic turmoil, with players from England and Australia acknowledging that their salaries may be cut.

Another franchise official clarified that players' salaries are not insured for the epidemic. He asked, 'We will not get any amount from the insurance company, because the epidemic is not included in the terms of insurance .
The salary amount of each franchisee is 75 to 85 crores. How can we pay if there is no play? ”Said the official, who was part of the franchise till the 10th stage of the IPL. Also, don't know when things will be normal. '

Both said that the BCCI needs to see what can be done, although they understand that it will incur a loss of around Rs 3000 crore. He said, "It is not that only Dhoni and Kohli will be affected. They will surely suffer a loss too, but for those playing for the first time, 20, 40 or 60 lakhs is a life-changing amount. We hope the BCCI has a plan. '

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal, however, said that there was no discussion about the cut yet. He said, 'There has been no discussion about the cut. The IPL is definitely the BCCI's biggest tournament, but at the moment it is very difficult to calculate and estimate the loss. We cannot say anything unless the officers sit together because the calculation is quite complicated. '

Former Indian Test player Malhotra, however, feels that it should be practical given the circumstances. This will not be a deduction for a domestic player, but it may be that the amount of his raise can be held back for some time. He said, 'BCCI earns its money from cricket. If cricket is not happening, where will the money come from? We should be sensible here. ”Malhotra said,“ So it is not that international cricketers will be affected but domestic cricketers will also be affected. This situation cannot be avoided. '
