SRH VS CSK PREDICTION

Chennai Super Kings To Win the Match, 2.00

Sunrisers are a little too over-reliant on their top-four to do the heavy hitting and provide impetus to their innings

With Bhuvneshwar Kumar out injured, Sunrisers' bowling attack appears to be a bit too weak, evident in their match against the Royals

Chennai Super Kings are an overall better balanced and a more experienced side and those could prove to be distinguishing factors in crunch situations

SRH VS CSK MATCH PREDICTION & ANALYSIS

After an intriguing day of cricket in the Indian Premier League 2020, we are finally beginning to see some separation among the teams in the points table. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are at the top with eight points each and then all other teams in the middle of the ladder, all fighting to get into the top half. Almost all the teams now have their combination sorted and the second half of the tournament promises to produce exciting contests as well.

After losing their respective recent matches, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face each other in what will be a significantly important match for both these sides. The match between the two sides is to be played at Sharjah Cricket Ground, Sharjah, on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020.

TEAM PREVIEWS

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

The Sunrisers got off to a poor start to the tournament but quickly picked themselves up and now find themselves in the middle of the points table. Of the seven matches that they have played so far, the Sunrisers have won three and lost four. While the numbers don't look that great, they would be pretty content as it took them a while to get their combination sorted. Their recent loss against Rajasthan Royals, however, must have rung some alarm bells.

Despite having a fragile middle-order, Sunrisers Hyderabad now seem to be adopting an approach that has worked so well for them in the recent editions. Their opening pair of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow has clicked more often than not and that is helping them put runs on the board. The over-dependency on them, which was apparent at the start, now seems to be gradually fading away largely because of Kane Williamson, who has already played several useful innings.

Apart from Williamson, Bairstow, and Warner, the Sunrisers only have Manish Pandey, who has good experience behind him. However, the Sunrisers would draw confidence from the way Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma have done in the past few matches. The return of Vijay Shankar is certainly a welcome move and he could be a handful at Sharjah Cricket Ground, which has relatively shorter boundaries.

While bowling has always been the Sunrisers' strongest suit, it doesn't look like that any longer. With Bhuvneshawar Kumar out injured, the Sunrisers appear to be lacking the skill and experience required at the death. This could come to a bite them in the upcoming match, wherein scoring runs would be easier than usual. Barring Rashid Khan, none of their bowlers have been consistent. T Natarajan has the capability of bowling yorkers accurately, but he would have to be dead accurate in the upcoming match. Khaleel and Sharma, however, have had sorry stats in the slog overs and would be the weakest links in the chain for SRH in the upcoming match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are coming off a heart-wrenching loss in a match they were ahead in for most of the time. However, there wasn't much that they could have done right as the Royals just batted beautifully at the death. Despite that loss, there were plenty of positives that the Sunrisers could take from that game. While SRH depend heavily on their top-order, it is unlikely to get to the lower-middle order in the upcoming match. They have a batting lineup that is well suitable for the Sharjah's surface and if their bowlers manage to do well, it won't be difficult for the Sunrisers to bounce back to the winning ways.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

Just around a week ago, Chennai Super Kings announced themselves with a remarkable ten-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab and changed the negative narrative about them. Their fans would have hoped that CSK would build on that win, but that was not to be. Instead, Chennai Super Kings lost both their following matches and are now staring at an early exit if they do not get back on the track.

In the seven matches played so far, the Super Kings have lost five and won four. They are placed at the seventh position on the ladder and will need at least four more wins from the next seven matches to have even a mathematical chance to qualify for the next round. Their skipper, MS Dhoni, sounded pretty calm after the last match's result and that should help the team to calm their nerves considering the situation they're in.

Spinners have always been CSK's strength and ironically, they are yet to win a match purely based on their strength. Ravindra Jadeja seems to be finding his rhythm back after having a dismal run in the first few matches. Given that Karn Sharma has done well too, a spin strangle from the Super Kings might well be around the corner.

Despite their spin woes, CSK's bowling has done reasonably well in the tournament. In fact, their biggest issue to address is their intent with the bat while chasing totals and that was also reiterated by MS Dhoni. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore as well, Chennai Super Kings' top-order left too many runs with not many overs remaining for the middle-order. The absence of Suresh Raina is clearly being felt and we are likely to see a more aggressive approach from the Super Kings going forward.

On paper, Chennai Super Kings still appear to be an immaculately balanced team. They are rich in experience and bat deep with almost everyone capable enough to hit the ball out of the park. They have enough fire-power in the bowling department and that was apparent in their performance against RCB. Faf du Plessis has consistently scored well for them and is currently at the third spot among the top run-scorers in the tournament thus far.

While Chennai Super Kings are in a tricky situation, they won't be worried just yet. They have had things clicking for them, but not in tandem. Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, and Ambati Rayudu all have some runs under their belt, and its only a matter of time before they get back into the business. They have been in this situation before and have experience of coming out of it with pretty much the same squad. Even though the Lions are down, they are not out and will be a tough team to get past in the upcoming match.

SRH VS CSK TOSS PREDICTION

While dew has made an impact here, the has been more pronounced in the second half of the second innings. In the upcoming match as well, the surface is expected to get slower with every passing over and chasing will not be easy. Keeping that into consideration, the captain winning the toss would like to bat first and keep the recent trend intact.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS

It was quiet uncharacteristic of the surface at Dubai as it assisted seamers more than the spinners. Over the last few matches, the surfaces seem to have dried and spinners have enjoyed bowling here. The bigger boundaries have allowed spinners to give a ball an extra bit of air and that has resulted in wickets. Its just the time of year in Dubai when there's significant different between the temperatures at day and night in Dubai, and, therefore, Dubai will be a factor. Having said that, the slowness of the surface will ensure that the team batting second does not enjoy undue advantage. The team batting first would want to score at least around 175 runs here whereas the the team bowling first would be incredibly happy if they manage to keep their opponents to anything less than 160.

SRH VS CSK BETTING TIPS

Both teams are coming off losses in their respective previous matches and with the business end of the tournament not far away, now will be the time for the two sides to start afresh and gallop towards the playoff spot. It's been a busy week thus far for Chennai Super Kings and they'd like to top it off with a much-needed win. Sunrisers Hyderabad, as well, will be fancying their chances on a venue that will likely suit their style of batting. Languishing in the bottom half of the points table, both sides will be under a tremendous amount of pressure and experience could be a key in the upcoming contest. Chennai Super Kings have that in plenty in addition to a batting lineup that goes deep. Also, we saw Sharjah's surface slowing down a bit in the last match and that could play to CSK's advantage. For that and the other reasons stated above, we think that the Super Kings are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming encounter.
